Accident Clean-up Question from Shane Wiles
Submitted on 14/08/2009
Hi, I have just purchased the old girl and at some point in her past, a can of tyre sealant has exploded on the rear shelf. I have managed to clean/replace the parcel shelf and side quarter panels with a wet chamonix but the sealant stain on the leather is proving more problematic. There are a couple of spots on the rear seats but the two worst areas are the rear headrests. Attached is a pic of the worst one although both could do with some attention. I look forward to your reply. Best regards Shane P.S. - I am in Northampton Model: 1994 Mercedes S500Coupe
If the tyre sealant isn't oily then you headrest can be recolored, However you may want to try using a magic eraser. You can buy it on ebay of they used to sell it at Woolworth's and Wilkinson's. Don't go mad with it, just try it on your head rest first, then if It works, then try the other bits of you seats. Just don't keep rubbing on the same spot for too long, as it Will eventually wear through. If that doesn't work, then you may need the leather recolored. Then come back to us and we will sort it out. In fact you could probably send them if you wanted?.
