Paint Sealants Question from michael downes

Submitted on 08/07/2010

Is it ok to wax my car before I apply a paint sealant? Model: Audi a3

Michael

No

We remove any polish/wax before we seal them as it can cause problems with swirl marks as well as we don't know the long term implications.

I fact both major UK sealant companies make their own stuff for removing any contaminants to use before the sealant goes on.

Unless its an American product which may not be a real sealant as they often have polishes and waxes they they call sealants. They do this because their law means that they can't call a wax a wax unless it contains real wax.
