Accident Clean-up Question from Helen Stone
Submitted on 13/08/2011
Removal of dried one coat emulsion from passenger seat - advice please ! We have tried white spirit without success. We are in St Albans, Herts, AL4 9LG. An option is to replace the seat, but so far breaker link hasn't yielded any parts. Many thanks Helen Model: Renault Laguna Tourer Estate 53 plate
Regretfully we cannot promise a hundred percent result by cleaning it. Some solvents may break the paint down, but now it is dry we are limited with what we can do. Honestly, we could spend three hours trying to clean this and still end up with only a ninety percent improvement. My advise is to try and find a replacement seat from a breakers or ebay. Or you maybe able to by a new set of seat covers from Renault. Or lastly you may want to just claim on your insurance.
Lastly I think I would be almost impossible to do this at home. I don't know of any product that would work, without guaranteeing that it wont damage that seat.
