Yes I do have an idea.
Many years ago I had a Bedford C. F. van.  The engine was slightly on the tilt, which made we engine that have a slight oil leak.  I was told it was a design fault.  Basically, tiny drops of oil dripped onto the manifold, which is the hot part of the engine.  Although there wasn't much.  It was enough to give me the flulike source throat.  You're talking about.  Tiny amounts of smoke came through the ventilation system.

Have a look on this website to see if anyone else has a similar problem or has reported any kind of oil leak.  If the oil leaks from the top of the engine (usually around the rocker gasket).  Then it may be dripping on to a hot part of the engine.  If you can't find anything.  Then I would suggest you take it to a good mechanic.  Because it would only be a drip every now and again.  You may not have noticed the oil level going down.  We would be interested to see how you get on.  Please could you let us know on the bottom of this form.
