Detailing Question from Ian Alderson
Submitted on 15/08/2010
I polished my dashboard last week, unfortunately the cloth i picked up had been used to remove exterior polish. This has now turned part of my dashboard grey. I have tried to remove it with warm soapy water and re-apply some polish with a clean cloth but grey still shows. Is there a paint available for a dashboard? Model: Vauxhall Vectra
Its sounds like the chalk in the polish is still in the texture of the vinyl.
I would suggest you try cleaning it again.
You could try using a microfibre cloth. Soak it in very hot very soapy water. Then cleaning it again, then rub it dry with a dry microfibre, in all different directions. If that works then use some furniture polish like pledge or Mr sheen to finish the whole dash to even it up again.
