Accident Clean-up Question from DIMITRIS EVANGELOU
Submitted on 17/09/2010
i WAS TAKING BACK A FULL CAN OF WATER BASED EMULSION PAINT BACK TO B & Q, WHEN THE LID POPPED OFF AND SPILT 1/2 OF ITS CONTENTS INTO THE BOOT. IT WENT OVER 1/2 OF THE BOOT MAT WHICH COVERS THE COMPARTMENTS AND THE SPARE TYRE AND COMPLETED COVERED A SMALL TRIANGLE COVER SE CTION WHICH COVERS A NOTHER COMPARTMENT IN THE BOOT. I WILL BE REPLACING THESE 2 PARTS, AS THE DAMAGE IS TO BAD.tHIS OCCURRED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO AND HAS LEFT A CONSTANT ODOUR. HOWEVER, I WOULD LIKE SOME ADVICE ON HOW TO REMOVE THE PAINT WHICH HAS ALSO SPLASHED ONTO THE BACK OF THE PASSENGER SEAT ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR AND INTO THE AREAS BETWEEN THIS SEAT AND THE ACTUAL METALWORK UNDERNEATH THE CARPET AREA. It sounds crazy but some times thats the best way to deal with this. If you are going to attempt to clean up split paint, you have to make up your mind as to whether its worth committing your self to the end . As once you have started, it gets a whole lot worse before it get better. Although I couldn't put up with the smell myself and I'm not sure whether some paint fumes may be dangerous to drive with, we have a warning on this page about it.
So how to deal with it now. My recommendation is to find a car that has been smashed up, and then buy everything to need. Have a look on ebay for the parts and then if they aren't there, then theres a link at the top of the page called save this search, have a look at that.
