Submitted on 16/05/2011

Have you ever taken dents out of a car Sill (under the drivers door) dont know how it has happened but looking to find out if it is possible to take out and the cost, sorry car not here at the moment to get photo's. Garage thinks the car has gone over large rut in the snow/ice I stay in in Lundin Links (Fife) do you have anyone in that area? Model: Toyota Auris

Chris

Its very unlikely that a dent in a sill can be removed using Paintless Removal. But please upload your picture, just in case. The two main reasons are that sills are usually very strong and the second reason is that they are usually boxed in. So there's usually no access. The good news is that they are usually easy and relatively cheep to repair.

If the damage isn't too severe and most aren't , then expect to pay somewhere around £150 to £250 plus vat to repair and repaint it. If a sill has been very badly damaged, then you could be surprised that it may need to be replaced. Then is normally a very big job for a body shop as these a lot of welding and in most instances half the seats and carpets have to be removed. This could be anywhere between say £700 and £2500 or even more in some cases.
