Ford Fiesta 2015 | Leaking with wet carpets Video
There are three areas of concern on this Ford Fiesta, all common sources of leaks that we have found before.
On the passenger side, the rear air vent is leaking, which is a frequently encountered issue on all makes and models of car. At this point, it's surprising if we don't find the rear air vents leaking on a car of this age.
There are also two holes on each side, which Ford decided to waterproof with paper tape. This is something they do at the factory for some reason. At some point, somebody made an executive decision after concluding this was a good idea. As it turns out, paper tape is not great for waterproofing -- who knew?
These all lead to water leaking into the boot, which runs forward and contributes to the wet carpets and flooded footwells.
The door membranes are also leaking, which is typical of a car this age.
Solution: We will replace and reseal both air vents, because they perish at roughly the same rate, so if one is leaking, the other is likely to be not far behind. We will also seal up those holes with something a little more substantial than paper tape. We will find a grommet that fits, and if not, make one fit.
Likewise, we will also recommend that all four door membranes are replaced with new ones.
The car will have already been treated with antimicrobial and antibacterial by this point, so with that done, the car will need to be properly dried.
