Does vinegar work to remove lichen?
Quick answer: Yes — vinegar will remove lichen, but not better than a purpose-made cabriolet hood cleaner. It’s a mild acid that can kill/loosen growth, but it isn’t a great shampoo, so you’ll still need a proper fabric cleaner, agitation, and thorough rinsing. Don’t expect a “spray and it falls off” result.
While vinegar may remove lichen, It may also make your car smell like a chip shop. There really isn't any advantage to be found with it over a dedicated hood cleaner.
