Can you repair soft top roofs?

Quick answer: Yes — we handle minor cosmetic repairs. Small holes can be patched from behind (where accessible) and blended with loose fibres; it’s durable but not invisible. We can also tidy rubbers/trim and we specialise in finding and fixing leaks. For mechanism/electrical faults or roofs needing replacement, use a folding-roof specialist.

Small holes can be cosmetically repaired by patching from behind if access can be gained.

We can carry out minor repairs to soft top roofs, rubbers and trim.

We can carry out minor cosmetic repairs to small holes if access is available. We will glue a patch behind the hole, and then use lose fibres to fill in the hole. This is exactly the same process we use for carpet repairs and is very hard-wearing, but not an invisible repair.

We can also carry out repairs to rubbers and trim, and specialize in finding and fixing leaks, but for more serious problems with mechanism, electrics and anything that might require replacement, we suggest you visit a company which specializes in the repair of complex mechanical roof systems, such as Cayman Autos.

More serious damage to roofs such as longer rips, seams coming apart, and rear windows falling out, are just not economically viable to repair. An Upholstery Trimmer is not the same as a Seamstress, (as they like to remind us with colourful language —"Right? Want me to darn your f#$%ing socks for you too?") and they will not make repairs, sewing by hand with the roof in place. To repair properly, a trimmer would have to remove the roof, cut out the damaged panel, find a matching fabric (if possible), and sew it back in... all before refitting the roof. If you were going to remove the fabric roof from the frame, you may as well replace it with a new replacement roof kit.
