Can you change the colour of my convertible roof?

Quick answer: Technically yes — we could point you in the direction of a trimmer who could replace it. Modern soft tops are synthetic and don’t take dye; most “recolouring” is a paint-like coating that can look artificial and wear unevenly, especially on folds. We generally advise against these products. If you want a different colour, a new pattern hood is the best long-term solution.

No, we don't believe you can satisfactorily recolour convertible roofs, change the colour, or paint things such as racing stripes on them.

Products for colouring fabric hoods are paint rather than dye, and the paint finish that results is suboptimal.  We would suggest that if you really desire your roof to be a different colour, that you buy a replacement roof kit.

Recently, we have had enquiries from e-celebrities and influencers on Tick-tock and Instagram ask us if we can dye their roofs pink or white. If you really wanted to do this, and have the money, the only way to do it would to be to have an upholstery make the roof kit from scratch. It would likely be a very expensive endeavour.
