When is the best time to weatherproof my soft top?
Quick answer: Do it at the end of summer so protection lasts through autumn and winter (more rain and falling leaves that feed “roof green”). Keep the hood clean, clear drains and seals, and re-proof so the fabric doesn’t get waterlogged—especially important in freezing weather. But don’t wait: if it’s going green or wetting out, re-proof now.
The best time to weatherproof a convertible roof is at the end of the summer so that you have maximum protection through the autumn and winter.
You will get most rain through the winter months, but you will also get a lot of leaves falling from the trees in the autumn, which is organic matter which will feed roof green. We recommend regular care through this period, keep it clean, check the gutters and rubbers and make sure all drainage is free of leaf litter and debris as this will help to prevent leaks.
Weatherproof coating repel water so that your hood stays dry and prevents it from becoming sopping wet. This is important if temperatures fall below freezing.
With that said, it is better to have weatherproofing than not, so don't wait for the Autumn to weatherproof your hood, if your hood is looking green or getting wet, get it done as soon as you can.
