Will my wet carpets dry on their own if I put the heating on?

In most cases, your car will not dry on its own.  Most cars have very thick carpet, and most people don't realize they have a leak problem until the car is full of water. There could be gallons of water under your carpets. Although it may eventually dry out, it could take years, by which time the moisture will cause electrical problems, mould, rot and corrosion.  This video should demonstrate the scale of the problem.

Most people underestimate how much water is in a leaky car. This video shows how thick the carpets are and what is hidden underneath.

There are exceptions, if you have a small-town car, sometimes the carpets and underlay are very thin and can dry out over the summer; however, we would still advise disinfecting the car to prevent mould and checking that no damage has been caused by corrosion.
