Gary is the Founder of New Again
Gary began his career in 1984 with a national car cleaning company, and just three years later launched his own business. What started with local Essex dealerships quickly grew to include major brands such as Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen, Citroën, Peugeot, Hyundai, Vauxhall and Ford. Along the way, New Again also served Essex Police, the NHS, the Valuation Office, Britvic Soft Drinks, and Chelmsford Car Auctions, providing everything from lease return inspections to specialist smart repairs, polishing, and vehicle protective coatings.
Always keen to innovate, Gary trained in decontamination and deodorisation techniques originally designed for housing. He adapted these methods for vehicles, working with insurers on fire and flood damage and developing what is now known as Modern Car Restoration—taking older or damaged cars and making them like new again. This forward-thinking approach turned problems into opportunities and set New Again apart as pioneers in the industry.
Over the years, Gary has built a trusted network of specialists including smart repair technicians, leather restoration experts, paintless dent removal specialists, and leading bodyshops. His long-standing presence in Chelmsford has also fostered close ties with customers, suppliers, and the manufacturers behind cutting-edge protective technologies—from early polymer coatings to today’s advanced ceramic and graphene coatings.
Gary’s leadership has seen New Again become associate members of the BVRLA, complete industry-recognised training for lease inspections, and undertake hybrid technology courses with the RMI. The company has worked with leading insurers such as Aviva, Direct Line, Zurich, Co-Op, NFU Mutual, Ageas, Insco Insurance Claim Consultants, Hoopers Insurance assessors, London Victoria Insurance and London Victoria Insurance Company LV, developing streamlined systems to meet their needs.
Alongside his colleague Danny Argent, who joined over 25 years ago and brings more than 30 years of motor industry experience, Gary has built a business recognised nationally. Recent highlights include being finalists in the Big Business Awards for Specialist Services and featuring on television alongside celebrities and motoring journalists.
Today, New Again stands as a modern car restoration and protection specialist, always looking ahead, always innovating, and always delivering results that make cars feel like new again.
