Lustrous Graphene GS Coating | Audi A6 Video

Siramik's Lustrous is our newest coating. It is a graphene product which is the latest if car protection technology, but more about that in a moment!

The customer brought this car to us wanting a coating and had a budget to work with. We recommended Lustrous and the car was left with us for a few days to get to work.

When we examined the car we found some paint fallout which is something we can deal with. After washing we found the car was far more scratched than we first thought and somebody had previously had a go at polishing the car which had left swirl marks all over it. 

Any kind of coating, ceramic or graphene will only seal in the paintwork you have, so it needs to be perfect before application. Coatings do not do anything to hide scratches and swirl marks, and can highlight them. So we set to work polishing this Audi. 

Our normal process is to wash the car, clay it... which is a process where a sticky clay is rubbed all over the car and this removes any fallout which is stuck to it. We polish the car with our 2, 4 or 6 stage system, depending on how bad the paintwork is, and we can also use paintwork correction on any areas that require special attention. This is essentially just more polishing, but may involve more abrasive compounds or even wet-sanding with sandpaper. 

We try to get it as close to perfect as possible, which usually isn't possible.  There are diminishing returns when polishing a car and there comes a point where it's good enough, especially with older cars.  We can get your car good enough so that it turns heads.

Lustrous GS Graphene is a product that contains graphene sheet instead of ceramic. It is even stronger, and it's said that if you could make a strap, one molecule thick, it would be strong enough to suspend a watermelon. The problem is actually making a strap one molecule thick, it is an extremely difficult substance to work with, but this new product does take graphene sheet and bond it to your car. It gives an amazing finish which seems to work like a contrast filter, making dark colours extremely rich.

As it's a brand-new product, we don't know how it will perform over time, so conservatives estimates say it will last 5-10 years. But we have seen the old acrylic coatings last 15 years, so we see no reason why this wouldn't last the life of the car.
