This Land Rover Defender has had the upgrade package by Urban and now come to us for a further upgrade of Lustrous GS Graphene Coating. Definitely levelling up!

You can never quite tell what you will get from the dealership in terms of condition, many will suffer from wash mark and you might even see some scuffs and scratches picked up in transport. This particular example had some pretty significant swirl marks, so we recommended a 4-stage polish because with a black vehicle, it will show every imperfection when coated with Graphene.

We used a touchless method of cleaning, where we let the car soak with a low-foaming soap to loosen the dirt, then we blast it off with our high volume pressure washers.

The car would then be clayed to remove any contaminants in the paintwork, such as industrial fallout (tiny metal particles) then it was machine polished in four stages, the final stage a very fine polish to remove buffer marks.  We then wash the car down with alcohol to remove any oils which are lubricants in the polishing compounds so that the graphene coating can bond directly  to bare, naked paintwork.

The graphene coating goes on thicker than ceramic coatings and there is a definite difference which we can tell during application. It's a new product, but having done half a dozen vehicles with it now, we are very pleased with the results and have upmost confidence in it.  It is hard to argue with the results, this car looks stunning.

Graphene coatings offer all the benefits of other ceramic coatings, but they are tougher and more durable. When you have a coating, it offers some degree of resistance against scratches, so you shouldn't get the wash marks that you see at the beginning of this video. In addition, the car is so slick and water-repellent that dirt doesn't stick, so your car stays cleaner for longer --  there's less washing involved in the first place.

Is graphene coating worth it?

Graphene coatings are totally worth it if you want the toughest, longest lasting coating. If you plan on keeping your car for years and want the benefit of paint protection the whole time you own it, then it's worth considering a graphene coating.

How long does a graphene coating last?

Honestly, we don't know because graphene coatings haven't been around long enough to know for certain. But it's tougher than ceramic, so the boffins estimate it will last as long if not longer.  Currently, we guarantee our graphene coating for 10 years but, in our considerable experience, coating can last twice as long as the guarantee.
