Interior Coolant Leak | Ford Focus Video
What happens if coolant from your air conditioning leaks into your car? It doesn't happen often, but we have seen one or two.
It is pretty easy to tell if the leak in your car is coolant because of the smell, and because they put a dye in it to stop people drinking it (the thought never crossed our minds). In this case, it's pink.
The first thing to do is to fix the leak, which in this case was done by an engineer at a garage. Fixing air conditioning is not really our forte. But we do know what to do to clear up the mess.
You have to wash out the coolant and then dry it. It will not dry on its own, as it is designed not to evaporate. We removed the seats and pulled out the underlay, so we could wash the coolant out of the sponge underlay. We shampooed the carpets and then left the car overnight with our drying machines on it. We could then put the car back together and give it back to the customer.
Our carpet drying service is pretty much unique. We are one of the few companies in the country that can deal with wet carpets from leaks, spills and floods.
