Classic 1985 Mercedes 280 TE Estate - Polish and Wax Video
This Mercedes-Benz 280 TE Estate, that originally came in for a rear water leak which we repaired, is a vintage/classic 1985 model.
This has caused some dispute here, as our younger members of staff refer to it as 'vintage', which makes some of us feel very old!
Once the leaking back window was fixed and the car dried out, we suggested to the customer that we give it a polish and restore the paintwork.
Cars of this age don't use clear-over-base paint, instead using a solid colour which is softer, more prone to staining and fading and needs to be cared for and protected.
After giving the paintwork a thorough clean, descale and removing any fallout, we gave it our four-stage polish and finished it with a long-life wax.
With the chrome given a buff and the tyres sheened, it looks like a new car.
This car is well looked after and kept in a garage. If it were to be kept outside it would probably lose its shine after a year or two as red, flat colour paint is prone to fading and is fairly soft, so we would recomment protecting it with a Graphene Coating.
