Aside from the wheels, this BMW is almost identical to one we had in about a week ago, and that also had Matrix Blue Ceramic Paint Protection.

Both cars suffered the same (very minor) problem, which is that they had wash marks and some light scratches on them, even though they had come to us straight from the dealership.  You may ask why this is, and so you should.  Sometimes, cars come straight from the dealership in a terrible state because they have hired people to clean their cars, who really don't know what they are doing. But even if they do hire good people and supply them with good equipment, they have to clean many cars in a day and can be in a real hurry to do them, so they aren't washing them with the upmost care, insuring their sponges and drying cloths are completely free of dirt and grit.

We Machine Polish every car before we apply a coating, and the light scratches and wash marks were easily removed.

But in all honesty, even if you are trying your hardest, you will introduce wash marks every time you clean your car because the dirt and grit you are trying to wash off of it are harder than the paintwork. Fine scratches will age your paintwork every time you wash it.

And that is a great reason to have a ceramic coating. Because of it's amazing hydrophobic properties, water can't stick to it, so it rolls off, taking the dirt with it.  This means you have to wash your car far less often, and the less you wash it, the less chance there is to introduce these wash marks.

In addition to this, ceramic coatings are made with ceramic, which is incredibly tough.  It doesn't make your car bulletproof, but it does offer a bit more resistant to marking.

The result is, you get a stunningly shiny car, which you have to clean half the amount, and stays looking new. So ask us about ceramic protection for your car. We have a wide range to suit your needs, although it has to be said that Matrix Blue is a very popular choice

How do I wash a car with a ceramic coating?

We recommend avoiding car washes and instead hand washing your car. You have probably done this before and remember it being hard work, but fear not! Cleaning a car with a ceramic coating is easy because it's so slick, dirt has trouble sticking to it. We recommend giving it a blast over with a pressure washer, this will remove most of the dirt. You will find that with the help of gravity, dirt will still collect in the gaps and might need a little agitation to help loosen it, but this is easily done with a gentle tickle with a soft brush. Then just rinse it off again.
It's a little like when you have a new frying pan with a non-stick coating. A rinse under a hot tap and most, if not all, of that sticky sauce just slides off down the drain.
