VW Beetle | Convertible Roof Cleaning Video

During the summer, we clean many hoods, and we often get runs of similar cars. This is the third Beetle we have seen in the last few months.

We loved these bronze coloured Beetles with tan roofs, but it's a light colour which does show the dirt and any marks. This example has streaks left when somebody got too close with a pressure washer. Thankfully they aren't too obvious, and we think we can do something about it.

Pressure washer are powerful enough to slice right through fabric, and if not, do serious surface damage as they rough up the fibres. This is especially the case for the kind of pressure washers that you can get for home use because they are running off a hosepipe which give limited supply of water, so unlike our pressure washers which are a lower pressure but huge volume of water, these are low volume but really high pressure.  Even with a jet washer that is tuned for cars, it is important to not get too close. 

After we cleaned the hood, it was treated with a hydrophobic coating, which repels water and prevents the hood staying soggy when it rains. This helps prevent the build-up of dirt and the cultivation of flora. You can tell if your hood needs doing because it does feel sopping wet when it rains. If it has a waterproof coating, most water will run off, pass through and the roof will just feel slightly damp.

The car had the wheels cleaned,  the paintwork was polished with a 3-month spray wax and is now beach ready.
