Graphene Coating Review

This Range Rover has come back to us because it got a scratch on the door, and it gives us a chance to assess and review the graphene coating.

The car was coated by us back in December, with Lustrous Graphene, and was back again in February to coat the wheels, so it is a vehicle we can keep a close eye on and continually review.

While the car arrived dirty, you can still see that it shines. The customer informs us that compared to his son's black car, the Land Rover says cleaner for longer, which is one of the benefits that we extol. The car looks stunning even through the dirt.

Cleaning is easy as the dirt simply washes away, and when you rinse the car, most of the water beads up and runs off. James then dried the car with a microfibre cloth and that was about it, just a courtesy wash, no additional treatments, and we didn't even use RO water. This is all you need to do, and the car looks as good as the day we coated it.

The car is professionally cleaned, so we wouldn't expect lots of wash marks, but there are none. There is little evidence of bird mess marks, bug splatter, tree sap, and there are none of those fine scratches which you get from driving big vehicles down narrow country lanes. While a graphene coating isn't scratch-proof, we are convinced that it is scratch resistant and significantly reduced damage to your car.

This car did come in to have paintwork correction for a scratch to be machine polished out. There were a number of scuff and scratch marks across the door. Some of the marks just washed off as they were likely plastic or paint transfer from the lawnmower which impacted the door.

After machine polishing the door, only a faint scratch remained, greatly reducing the appearance. It is hard to say for sure, but we think the scratch would have been deeper and looked worse if it wasn't for the graphene coating making the paint harder.

Graphene coating makes a significant difference and Lustrous GS is, in our opinion, the best coating we have ever worked with. While we have a number of ceramic coatings in our range, LGS deserves the title of our best coating, for toughness and shine. As you watch this video, compare the shine on this car to others that are in the background in direct sunlight. The difference is undeniable. If you have a prestige vehicle and want it to look its absolute best, we would recommend LGS above all else. We would also recommend it as our toughest coating for cars that need to endure the rigours of country life.
