Ford EcoSport Industrial Fallout Decontamination Video
This Ford EcoSport came in for a decontamination after it was contaminated by an industrial fan at a factory.
Most people would associate "Industrial fallout" with industrial processes that produce fine metal particles which contaminate the exterior of a car, but it can be anything. In this case, an extractor fan belched out a cloud of dust which contaminated this car, which was outside with the windows open.
These extractor fans are often used in factories where dust is created by the manufacturing process. This could be cardboard, plastics and resins, paint, food or a thousand other substances.
Dust can build up in the fan until a chunk breaks loose and gets ejected into the air as a cloud.
As you can see from the child seats, this customer has small children, and so they were keen to have this unknown substance thoroughly removed. We believe the contamination may be gypsum dust from plasterboard, but we aren't sure. Although not especially dangerous, breathing in any kind of dust is unhealthy and irritant.
We began by vacuuming the entire car, cleaning the engine bay, removing the pollen filter and blowing through the ventilation system. The car was also treated with antibacterial and antimicrobials because it's part of our accident clean-up process.
