How much does it cost to fix this?

Quick answer: There isn’t a fixed price — leak repairs can’t be priced until we inspect the car. We start with a diagnostic inspection and then give an estimate (not a quotation); as trim comes off and drying/repairs begin, hidden faults or additional leak paths can appear. Leaks are often multi-source and found by elimination.

We don't know how much it will cost to fix and dry your car, until we inspect it. You really cannot estimate the cost of fixing a problem until you diagnose the problem.

Until we do an inspection, we never know quite what we will find. Which is why we start our process with an inspection, after which, we will give you an estimate, not a quotation. Because once we start the work and taking the car apart, we may find things which we couldn't possibly have seen on the inspection. Fixing water leaks can be a process of elimination, it is only once you have fixed one leak, that another might be revealed.

For example, we could find that water is getting in thorough a cracked seam and pooling in the boot. We could seal that seam only to find water is still getting into the boot because with the seam fixed, the water is now flowing onto a gasket which isn't properly sealed.

There is the old joke that the thing you are looking for is always in the last place you look... which is obvious because once you find it, you stop looking! But we to keep looking because we don't know how many leaks we are looking for. But as are paying us by the hour, we have to use our best judgement, and we can't always get it right first attempt.
