What graphene and titanium together actually do
The dual-bonded SiO2 base is what most ceramics offer. Butterfly goes further: graphene produces liquid depth and vivid lustre in a way standard ceramics don’t, and titanium dioxide runs through the formula adding hardness and UV resistance. On dark colours and metallics, the result is striking -- there's a wetness to the finish you don’t get from a standard ceramic.
The hydrophobic surface means water beads and rolls away, carrying dirt with it. Your car stays cleaner for longer and is much easier to wash, without the need for constant waxing or polishing.

Fireball Butterfly Graphene Ceramic
Butterfly started as a standard Fireball SiO2 ceramic and was developed into something different. The current formula adds graphene and titanium dioxide to the dual-bonded SiO2 base -- Fireball market it at over 90% solids, which is unusually high. We apply it as certified Fireball installers; the protocol is controlled and the results consistent.

How long does Butterfly last?
Fireball Butterfly carries an 8-year warranty. In practice, permanent coatings regularly outlast their official guarantees -- we’ve seen earlier Fireball products still performing well beyond the original estimate. With reasonable care, you can expect the coating to cover a full ownership cycle and more.
I’ve heard graphene is bunk?
There has been hype, and some products that amount to sprinkling raw graphene into a wax. We were sceptical too. Butterfly uses graphene in a controlled formula -- we’ve tested it and seen consistent results. If you’re interested in the science, watch this explainer.
Is graphene better than ceramic?
It depends what you mean by better. From our experience, Butterfly’s graphene formula produces depth and colour saturation in a way standard ceramics don’t, and the titanium addition improves hardness and chemical resistance. Whether that’s worth the step up from a standard ceramic depends on your paint and your expectations -- we’re happy to talk it through.
Will it make my car scratch-proof?
No coating makes paint scratch-proof. Graphene resins toughen paintwork, making it more scratch-resistant. Think “resistant”, not “proof” -- it sits on top of paint, which is still relatively soft.
Does my car need polishing before Butterfly goes on?
Yes, and it’s included. Every Butterfly application starts with a 2-stage machine polish and clay-bar decontamination. Ceramic coatings seal whatever is beneath them, so applying one over swirl marks or light scratches locks them in permanently. If your car’s paintwork needs more attention, we offer 4-stage and 6-stage correction upgrades.
