Mazda MX5 Cabriolet Hood Refurbishment

Mazda MX5 convertible roof cleaned, reproofed (2-year protection), drains flushed, rubbers Krytox-treated, exterior spray wax and tyre shine applied.

This Mazda MX5 arrived with a dirty hood -- dirt built up across the fabric and down into the seam gaps -- plus rubbers that needed reconditioning. The customer already had a plan to get the whole rear end resprayed, so the brief was clear: sort the roof first, make everything clean and sealed, and leave the paint correction for the respray crew.

We carried out a full hood clean and reproof with a minimum two years protection. Alongside that, the drains were flushed out -- blocked convertible drains are one of the fastest ways to end up with water inside the car -- and all the rubber seals got a treatment with Krytox. Krytox feeds the rubber, makes it plump back up, and helps the seals close properly. You can see the difference on the rubbers after: they look shiny and healthy rather than dry and cracked.

The exterior also had a three-month spray wax applied, tyre shine finished off the look, and we gave the interior a courtesy clean to leave it fresh. The back window glass was polished up as part of the detail too.

If your MX5 or other convertible roof is looking tired, we offer a hood clean and reproof as a standalone service. We can also add rubber seal conditioning and drain flushing if the car needs it. For the exterior, our exterior car detail covers a full wash, decontamination, and protection stage.
