We just retested the door membranes just to triple, triple check. Obviously this one we had got the new membrane in it and resealed it.
3:54 So we're just gonna get my colleague Matt to pour the water down. Same story as before. This one is obviously draining out perfectly fine at the bottom, but all nice and dry along there. No drips or leaks or anything like that. So we're happy with that. As we'll see, we know that we'll see the backstory with that all being swapped and changed.
4:12 We'll go over to the passenger side and just double check the same again. It's the same story of just pouring down there, lot of water, same story. So it's all draining out really nicely, which is good. Doesn't mean there's any blockages in the actual door channel itself. And again, just coming along there, no drips or leaks or anything like that at all.
4:32 So I'm happy with that. Which caused us to do a bit of sort of further digging around in investigation work, scratching our heads a little bit, just doing a bit of research. And one of our colleagues has actually got a Fiat 500 in the family and had an issue with the rear wiper.
4:49 Now, if we turn the car on and show just the rear wiper, is actually working. So it takes a second to come through, but it is working. However, if we come inside the vehicle, we can also see it looks like that may well be the issue. It looks like, obviously, you've got a washer pipe that comes all the way through the vehicle to your back screen, and it looks like a pipe may well have either split or got a connection joint that's burst.
5:23 Now, obviously, this time of year, we're getting a lot of colder weather. We do see it with the sunroof pipes and things like that, they can, the connections can split and come apart. So obviously it is obviously the same areas that you were getting the water before, so the same symptom. But obviously before you had your door membrane that was leaking, that is now sorted, but obviously back to the same symptom area. But it is actually a completely different leak. Right, short video being made by Tom and Matt. This car's been
5:55 back once already. So it came in originally and we found the door membranes to be leaking, which Matt is now showing that are still fine. The water goes down the outside of the glass there, he's using a watering can and a clip, but basically the water has to come out the bottom of the door without coming through the door, in effect, and go out of the car. So that's what it does. However, when it came back the first time, having had two membranes, we fitted two because
6:28 they weren't hanging on properly, it was leaking on this side again, but it had a big slot in it, which was when we did our retest. We thought, why has this got a big slot? We had videos and photographs showing it brand new with no slit cut through. So on further investigation we were able to identify that it had been in a small accident, nothing serious, but they'd had to do the door panel, and the body shop that did the work of paid for the repair then, because they admitted
6:56 oh sorry, we must have put a split in it. So we had it back, we replaced it, and then this car then leaked on the other side. Bizarre. So on this side it was leaking where Tom is showing, and you can see there through the washer. Could have been something that's sprung up since we've had the freeze, because the guy had the car back for several months all through the summer and it wasn't a problem. So it might just be a new problem, or it may have been there all
7:31 along. The water, when the door membranes were leaking, of course would have gone straight to the same spot, so you see that it drops in over the plastic now. Tom's making a video there, we're just explaining to the customer that we couldn't possibly have identified this leak, and now we're going to organise repairing it and hopefully then that's this car done. But the customer is aware that the car will need to go back out and be put through its paces and in the real world, we call it, but you know, up and down
8:07 hills in the pouring rain and park on their driveway and have their circumstances. This instance, difficult one to find, but we found it straight away, believe it or not. But you know, you wouldn't expect a hose to be running from the front of the back to the car to be leaking right under there, but where it was, and you know, our experience told us that there's something quirky here and we got it pretty quickly. So Tom's filming it, showing the customer that unfortunately they've had to come back twice, and here's the, that's the reason why we could not possibly have found that
8:42 other leak without knowing what we now know. My best guess is that the freeze-up recently has caused this, and probably need to put some more antifreeze in the squirter. Probably have a thicker mix so it doesn't freeze up. My guess, my best guess is frozen, but we haven't had it apart yet. We'll have a look. Once we've got it apart we'll see whether the hose is split or whether it's disconnected or it's connected or something like that. But either way it's just, you know, we don't get many cars back.
9:14 I'm going to say probably one in 30, maybe one in 50 now these days, where you get a car back twice, but there you go. This one's back again and again, and there's the genuine reasons why. Okay, just a quick update for you. So we've split part of the loom apart and had a closer look at the feed pipe for the back.
9:34 And we can see that very small hole just there that we believe is where it's coming through. So what we're going to do, we'll just show you on the video. I'll kind of hold it in my hand so it doesn't go too far. There you go. So as you can see, that is the point it is coming out.
9:53 So we've got two options with this. We can either do our initial thought of running a new line in. We've got the pipe, so it would be replacement stuff like that. And we'd run all the way through. The only problem we've got is where it's located, so we've taken part of the scuttle off, but we need to take more of it to get the access.
10:20 It is this pipe here, which then goes all the way up and through, so we would have to take more of the scuttle apart just to get access, because you can barely get a hand in there. But that is the pipe. But that then basically comes out directly in the centre of the dash, which would then mean us having to take out pretty much all of the glove box.
10:46 And then it's then from that point onwards whether or not we can get behind the heater matrix to get in. The other option is, you've got these, which are basically connectors, which we could just splice into the cable here. Now, obviously if we were doing things like sunroof pipes, we always try to avoid these, because they do put a slightly smaller bore going through.
11:11 But as it is only a screen wash, it should be clear liquid in it. You know, there shouldn't be any debris or anything like that to block it up. So it's totally up to you which way you can do it. Obviously we're happy to run the pipe, but it is gonna be, you know, what we've quoted, if not a little bit more, or we can put the splitter in, cut a bit of pipe out, put the connector in.
11:37 It's a fairly, you know, it's a nice easy job. And then we can put all the loom back together and then get it all dried out for you. That's obviously gonna be a lot quicker. So we'll knock hours off of the quotation. It's totally up to you. I just wanted to give you the option of whether or not you want us to run a new pipe completely or whether or not you want us to put in the connector just into that section there.
12:03 Obviously a new pipe means you're not going to have, you know, anything, any other potential areas like that further down. But at the moment it does just seem to be, that's the only area obviously, I can never say never. Sorry, just one other thing to add, we would say obviously with this time of year, especially with the cold weather, I'm not sure what kind of screen wash you guys are running at the moment, but we would probably recommend something that's got quite a strong de-ice level to it. I know you can get sort of different qualities with different temperature ratings. If we were to go for this option, we'd just put the splitter in it. It's internal to the vehicle, so it shouldn't be a
12:59 problem, but we would just say obviously using a higher grade screen wash would prevent it from sort of freezing through and causing any issues. Hey, so just a quick update for you. Before I put the drying machine on, I wanted to just show you this before doing any of that, just to show to you what we've found and what we've done. So we've put the connection inside the pipe now, and we've also put a rubber piping around it to secure it further, and we've just taped it up just to make it look a bit neater for you. We've tested
13:35 it with, by pushing a lot of water through, and so far there has been no leak coming back, so that's all good. What we'll do is we'll dry the whole area up just to make sure it's all bone dry for you before we put in everything back down. But once that's done we'll still test again, we'll push a load of water through just to make sure it is not coming out, and then it will obviously go under our rain notch once we've done all of that, just to test the other side and also test this side just to make
14:13 sure that there is no further leaks. So what I've done is I've got here our moisture tester, so you can see straight away this side, we already knew that that was soaking wet, so that's a very easy telltale sign for that. But I have checked the other side here, so the driver's side, and with the moisture tester on it isn't currently showing that there is any wetness through this. But what we will do is we'll put the drying machine on.
14:53 I just wanted to show you this before we started drying, as that would obviously dry it all out so these wouldn't be conclusive tests. But before we started the drying process I thought I'd show you this, and it is showing that it is drier. But we'll still have it underneath our rain arch, because we obviously want to check that nothing's going wrong and no leaks are continuing.
15:21 But yeah, so currently saying that it's dry. So hopefully it was just possibly a bit of dampness from the other side coming through that made it feel a bit wet, or just the cold has made it feel damp even though it possibly wasn't. But we'll have it underneath the rain arch once it's all dried, once everything's back together, and then we'll check further and update you on any updates.
15:50 Okay, so we've just done the courtesy wash on the Fiat. It is just now having its rain arch check, so this just simulates rainfall, so I just put a load of water over the car and just being sure that there are no further leaks. Obviously after this it will need to go out and it's real well testing, so that would just be basically driving it as normal, parking it as normal, and ensuring that the rear bumper is contained and not leaking.
16:27 We have tested this quite a few times and it seems to be holding up perfectly. So this is the second to last video, so we'll just get this all done underneath the rain arch, get it all dried for you, and then your next video will just be to tell you that it is ready to collect.
16:48 So this is the final video for the Fiat 500 that came in with the water leak. So what we've done now is we've sealed up the pipe that was broken for the rear wiper fluid, and it's gone through all of our rain arch and it's all perfectly fine, doesn't seem to be leaking.
17:11 I'll quickly show you here with the moisture tester. So that would turn red if it was wet, as you can see it's green. I'll quickly test the rear washer as well, so you can hear it go in there, and if it was still coming through wet that monitor would go off. But it is seeming to be fine, and as you can see the fluid is coming out perfectly fine from the rear end.
17:43 We've also done as well, because we've tested the driver's side door as requested. Unfortunately we weren't able to get the door to leak. We've put it under the rain arch, we've put a lot of water over it, we've shook the door panel quite a bit just to sort of try and manoeuvre some water in there, but nothing seems to drip through. But what we have done anyway, just as a precaution, is we've removed the door panel and we've changed some of the clips. We've also put some
18:18 more sealant around the speaker and down just the side of the panel, just down the side here, just because there's a possibility that water could have been coming through at a very slow rate. So it's just not done that for us this time, but we decided to be on the safe side to prevent you having to come back to us again. We thought we'd change the clips on there for you and put more sealant around the areas that would be prone to water ingress. But we've done
18:55 all of our tests. I've put the moisture tester here for you, as you can see, all dry as well. There we go, all dry. No water has been seen to come into the vehicle, so we're all happy that it is all ready to go home. So yes, so everything is sorted for you.
