A Porsche 911 Carrera with wash marks from years of hand car washing. Four-stage machine polish, then Fireball Silla+ 5-year ceramic and Helios Shield on the nose for stone chip protection.
The customer had already been to the dealership for a ceramic coating and was not happy with the result. The paintwork had wash marks from being cleaned repeatedly without the right technique -- probably hand car washes over the years, which introduce fine scratches every time grit is dragged across the lacquer.
We use a four-stage polish. The first stages use a cutting compound to trim back into the damaged layer, removing the scratches from the surface down. The final two stages are progressively finer to eliminate any circular buffer marks and bring the lacquer to a mirror. Once the polish is done, every panel is wiped with alcohol to remove the polishing oils that can hide micro-scratches, before anything goes on top.
This Porsche received Fireball Silla+ 5-year ceramic coating, with Helios Shield applied over the nose. Helios is a thick, flexible ceramic layer designed to absorb stone chip and road rash impacts that a standard coating would not resist. On a car that gets driven at any meaningful speed, it is worth having on the leading edges.
