Audi TT: Ceramic paint protection

An Audi TT in for ceramic coating -- but it has just had a new roof fitted for over £1,000, which Gary says could probably have been avoided with regular cleaning. She is taking it to France. A BMW Z3 with a dirty green roof is in the workshop at the same time as a cautionary comparison.

An Audi TT in for a buff and ceramic coating. It came in originally with a tatty-looking roof, water getting in. The owner had a new roof fitted -- over a thousand pounds -- believing the old one was no longer waterproofing. Gary's honest view: it is a shame, because had the roof been looked after and cleaned regularly, the refurbishment would probably have done the job and they would not have needed a new one.

While the TT is in, there is a BMW Z3 on the other side of the workshop. Its roof is dirty and green -- and it is there for the same reason, water getting in. Gary uses it as a live illustration of where the TT's old roof was heading, and where the Z3 is heading now if the owner does not act.

The Coating

The TT is buffed up and coated with an eight-year Fireball ceramic coating. The owner is heading to France to drive through the lanes -- Gary's summary: "drive through the lanes in France looking super shiny, and what a lovely car."

This video was filmed with the original Fireball range. The current flagship for eight-year protection is Fireball Butterfly -- the graphene-reinforced successor. See our full ceramic coating range and our convertible roof cleaning service.
