0:01 So Audi Q5, water leak found. I'm just going to show you what we found at this exact point. 28 point check completed, and we've accumulated that we've seen that we've got two leaks on the vehicle. Originally we thought the damage here was the main cause. It is partly the reason why the car is leaking, but also, hence the tape, the drainage point here on the roof is also blocked.

0:24 Now put some plastic sheeting underneath the car here, just so the water that we use, when it comes through the vehicle, doesn't make its way into our drainage system. What I'm going to do is use this to apply some water to the sunroof area. The actual roof is designed sloped, so the water makes its way out the back of the car.

0:49 With me squeezing water in, you should see water making its way through the drainage channels into the plastic area there. As you've seen, clearly there's no water going on the floor there. It's actually making its way into this area here, and this whole section here, which is just where my fingers are, it's soaking wet. So the water's actually making its way in, and you can also see clear water gathering here, and that's because it's coming into the car. The actual drainage point's fairly close to this area here, it's

1:20 tucked away, but we've got to get that unblocked to make the water go through the vehicle. What I'm going to actually show you is what should happen. By applying water to this side, same process of squeezing water into the channels. You should see, going good, it's making its way out. And that should happen on that side, which it clearly is not, so it's making its way into the vehicle. The actual rear footwell, passenger side rear footwell, it's wet as well. We've managed to pull some trim aside to give us access to this rear

Our latest 28 point check water leak detection service is a 2011 Audi Q5.

The car is suffering from some heavy damage to the rear quarter as seen in the video, this is contributing to the vehicle's water ingress. The car will need body repair to stop the leak continuing.

We also have a blocked rear sunroof drain which is causing water ingress into the same location, the boot floor pan and passenger rear footwell, so these areas will need to be stripped cleaned decontaminated and dried.

Water has the tendency to find its lowest point, in this case the passenger rear footwell and boot floor pan. The vehicle's underlay is holding a significant amount of water as a result. Without removing seats and trims etcetera this will stay wet for a lengthy period of time which will cause mould to develop.

Question: "My car leaks water on the front floor carpets. It has been to the dealer's and the garage, and they have replaced some bits, but they don't seem to have fixed the leak."

Answer: It can be a process of elimination, and we don't promise we can fix your leak first time. It is possible they did fix leaks, and you have more. We have seen vehicles with half a dozen or more. It happens with cars of a certain age. As we always say, once you find your car keys, you stop looking. Car water leaks are not the same as looking for your keys, and we do check all the obvious points, but it would be expensive to keep checking, and checking until we are 100% certain we have found every leak when on nine out of ten cars, our 28 point check gets them all.
