A black Ford Focus that came in for a water leak -- and left with Fireball Super Hydro sealant as well. Gary's brother story: put the coating on his car, it rained, he came back to borrow the minibus and said "thanks for cleaning it." The self-cleaning explanation that actually makes sense.
This black Ford Focus came in for a water leak. With the car already here and the repair done, the customer decided to add a coating -- "why not" -- and went for Fireball Super Hydrophobic.
Fireball Super Hydrophobic
This is not a ceramic coating -- it is a polymer-based nano-sealant that lasts 18 months to two years. The hydrophobic effect is exceptionally strong. Water rolls off the surface at speed, taking surface dirt with it. Gary describes the real-world result: when it rains, the car cleans itself a little. Not entirely -- it gets less dirty, not clean. But each rain shower removes some of the surface contamination, which means the car looks presentable for much longer between proper washes. Roughly half as often is the practical difference.
We have used most of the major polymer sealant brands over the years and Fireball Super Hydro is the one we kept coming back to. The claims hold up in use. Before any sealant goes on, the car is detailed and machine polished -- the sealant seals in whatever condition the paintwork is in, so that preparation pass is not optional.
Gary's Brother
Gary put Fireball Super Hydro on his brother's car. A while later his brother borrowed Gary's minibus and returned it with a thank-you -- for cleaning his car. Gary had not touched it. What had happened was it rained. The coating had shed the surface dirt and the car looked like it had been washed. His brother is now fully sold on it, partly because he is not someone who enjoys washing the car every weekend. Most people are not. The goal is a shiny car without constant effort, and this gets closer to that than anything else we have used at this price point.
The Focus came out looking dramatically better than it went in. The customer was also getting new wheel centres fitted and new number plates -- Gary's comment: "it'll look like a new Focus, and why not."
