SiRamik Graphene Coating | Tesla

Tesla with SiRamik Lustrous GS Graphene Coating. The sustainability case for coatings: extend the life of the car you have rather than replacing it. Less washing, less scratching, paint stays newer.

There is a sustainability argument for ceramic and graphene coatings that does not get talked about enough. Manufacturing a new car has a substantial environmental cost. The longer you keep a car on the road in good condition, the better the overall balance -- you are amortising that manufacturing footprint over more years of use.

Modern cars are mechanically very reliable. It is their cosmetic condition that ages them. A graphene coating protects the paintwork from wash marks and oxidisation, the two things that make a car look old long before its mechanics give out. You get the new-car feeling the whole time you own it, and when you do sell it, the paint condition supports the price.

The coating also keeps the car cleaner for longer -- dirt does not bond to the hydrophobic surface the way it does to bare paint. Fewer washes means less grit dragged across the lacquer and fewer micro-scratches introduced. Good for the car. Good for how much time you spend cleaning it.
