0:00 Okay, so we have a Peugeot 107 in today for our water leak procedures. So we're just going to show you what we've found so far. So I'm going to go into the driver's side, into the car, and my colleague's going to pour a hose on the back of the car, which is simulated just obviously on top of the light here. And so if we go on the inside, so there we go. We can see, let me just move my torch.

0:30 Okay, so we can see drips of water coming down there. So it will eventually drip. There we go, so we've got the passenger rear light is leaking, so we are doing the both of them because they're the same sort of age. And if we just come round, we are now going to test the door membranes.

0:51 So coming around to the passenger door membranes, my colleague's just gonna put some water down the outside. Now it should be obviously releasing through the bottom of the door, which it is doing. But if we can see there, it's actually coming in quite quickly through the door membrane. So obviously we've got a spot down here and a spot here.

1:10 And if we just now come over to the driver's side, so we're just gonna simulate the same thing again. Okay, so we've got more on the back of the window. So it's coming out of the bottom of the door. There we go, so we can see that there's, oh, heavy leak on that one now.

1:32 And then the result of that is we can't really see, because we haven't got the carpet up, but we have got wet foot wells in either side. If I just put the comb around to the passenger side, because the passenger side, I think you can actually see a bit better. So we've got damp carpets down here.

1:51 And if we just go into the back of the barn, give that a squash down. So we can see how wet that carpet is as I'm pushing down. You can see that the water is obviously underneath. So there we go.

This seven-year-old Peugeot has a water leak through one of the rear lights, probably because the seal around the light has perished or shrunk.

Solution: We will fix both rear lights because they are both the same age, so if one is leaking rain water, it's likely the other will do it soon. Most of the water seems to be getting in through the door membranes, the driver's door and the rear passenger side are letting in a lot of water. Again, as two have come unattached, it's likely the other doors might do soon, so we will replace them on all four doors.

Question: "I think my car has the same leak that you show on one of your videos, how do I repair it?"

Answer: The cheap and dirty way of doing repair is to put some sealant over the leaky areas, but what we usually try to do is replace the parts. It might be replacing an air vent or a door membrane; often the manufacturer becomes aware of the problem and the new parts are an updated design. Besides, we like to return your car to you as close to factory as possible. However, sometimes the best and most efficient method of repairing a leak is with carefully applied sealant... and sometimes things just need a clean.
