Peugeot 208 2018 | Water Leak Detection Service

0:00 OK, today we have a Peugeot 208, a 2018 plate. So we're just going to show you what we've found so far. So first thing first is we're going to grab this little device here. This little device tells us if there's any water underneath the carpet. And as you can see, if I push down on that underlay, we can see that it's telling us there's water there.

0:25 So there's water in the back here, which we know of. In the driver's front, it seems to be a slight reading, but it's not going off mad. And then if we quickly come over to the passenger front and your front up in the bulkhead, so if we put down here first of all there's nothing, but if you put up here where the bulkhead sponge is, it's telling me that there's water behind there. If we go into the back, showing us readings but nothing major there. So as you can see there's

1:14 basically nothing there. That's from us doing our test, that little bit there, but from that everything's fine under there. Right, okay, so now going on to show you obviously what we found, what's leaking. So concentrating on the driver's door. And so what we've done is put a bit of a lever tool down here. What we're going to do is put some water down the back of the door, just obviously simulating that it's out in the rain. Now it's emptying through the bottom of the door, as we can see. If we look very very closely, we can see a run mark coming

1:48 down here of water. So that means that the drivers door membranes leaking. What that would then do is run onto this rubber, and then from that rubber it would then go underneath the step and then fill up obviously in the footwell. Next one would be a, I believe it's possibly maybe the rubber, maybe upside down, this rubber here. And if we just have a look, we've got a little bit of a kink down here. And as well, as we can see on the inside, that the trims

2:22 ain't sitting as well as they should be. But also we've got this locator here; on the other door the locator is down below. And so I'm thinking possibly maybe this rubber is not on correctly. I did think it was getting in between because there's no sealant, but there's no signs of any water inside the rubber. So what we're going to do is we're going to shut the door up. We've got a hose obviously on our stall here, so I'm just going to turn the water on quickly. Okay, so we've got it obviously hitting that back bit there

3:01 just simulating that it's in the rain, and if we then jump inside the car without getting wet. Right, okay, so we're inside the car now. We've got obviously the water obviously on the outside, and what we have noticed is there seems to be a tiny bit of water coming through on the inside. So you can see a very faint drop in that rubber, hard to see, but it's right here. But the problem is if we go like this with the rubber, it doesn't seem to be

3:45 shutting as well as this side over here. So I think possibly maybe the rubbers causing the issue on this side.
