Volkswagen California Van 2014 | Water Leak Detection

0:00 OK, we've got Volkswagen Camper Van in today, as you can see the roof is all up looking nice and pretty. So we're just going to show you what we've found so far. So if I just grab some water, we're just going to quickly go around to the passenger side, door membrane. So we've put a trim tool down here so we can get some water behind the door.

0:17 So what we will be looking at, as everyone knows, is it should come out the bottom of the door. But if we take a close look, so if I just pour some water down the back here. Okay, so it's coming out of the bottom, but also we can see that there's a very heavy leak here. And so what that would then do is it would leak onto this rubber, and then it would then go underneath this tray. And so that would be the first leak. And then if we come across to the other side, we need to go

0:48 up the top. And what's actually happening here is the sunroof pipe for, well, not the sunroof bike, but the roof drainage system up here in this little gully here. So if we put some water just down this little hole here. Okay, so we can see that it isn't draining off. So the problem is, is that is blocked, and then what that's then doing is it's backing up on itself. Once it then backs up on itself, the only way it can go is, if we just sit inside. Right, okay, so what it will do is it would

1:26 work its way obviously behind the headlining, and then it would use the A pillar as a slide to run down. Just to show you, obviously we've got a drip of water just starting to form here, and also we've got water sitting in this little recess here as well. I've got my twisty camera down there, and that is the end of the sunroof pipe, so it looks all good there. But obviously where it's backing up, it's going to come out from the top. And we can see it's not exactly

1:55 the biggest pipe in the well down. And just to quickly show you on the A pillar as well, inside the A pillar we've got signs of a little bit of obviously water in there. So obviously it's using this bit here as a slide. The only thing is, inside underneath the carpet under here doesn't seem to be wet. It seems to be a little bit damp, but not wet wet. And but what I believe is getting soaking wet is this here. So this is the underlay which goes up the bulkhead and

2:32 right up the top there. We can see there's a tiny bit of moisture up there, so that would probably be causing the condensation up on the front window screen. And if we have a look just here, I don't know if you can see that, we've got a rough spot, so that's signs that that's where the water is sitting as well. So there we go, so we're just going to put an estimate together and okay, all done.
