Machine Polishing Scratch Removal

Machine polishing a Ford for a lease return -- coarse compound to cut scratches down, finer stages to finish, wax to seal. The aim is acceptable condition, not perfection.

This Ford had scratches that needed bringing down to an acceptable level before the lease return. The aim here was not a showroom finish -- just good enough that the car reads as normal wear rather than damage worth charging for.

We start with a coarse cutting compound to reduce the scratches, then move through progressively finer stages to remove the buffer marks from the cutting stage and restore a shine. A coat of wax goes on at the end to seal and protect the finish.

On lease cars we are always balancing the cost of repair against the likely recharge. Polishing out scratches is one of the most cost-effective interventions -- often a fraction of what a lease company would charge to have a panel refinished.
