BMW 2 Series convertible hood: lichen cleaned, drain flush, cracked rubbers treated with Krytox, two-year waterproof coating. Exterior detail included.
This BMW 2 Series convertible hood had some lichen and light green growth in the guttering, and some wear towards the rear -- normal for a hood of this age. The rubbers had some cracking, and Krytox treatment was applied to rehydrate and condition them, keeping them supple and maintaining the seal.
We cleaned out the rear scuttle and flushed all the drainage pipes -- blocked drains are one of the most common causes of water ingress in convertibles and well worth clearing as preventive maintenance rather than waiting for a leak to develop.
The hood was finished with a two-year waterproof coating which is particularly effective on the synthetic fibres of this hood, giving a silky finish and keeping the fabric properly hydrophobic. The car was also given an exterior detail.
