Bentley Silver Spur Rain Water Leaks

The main culprit for causing the wet carpet on this Bentley was a disconnected pipe for the sunroof drainage. It is fairly common on cars with sunroofs for the pipes to shrink with age, and as they shorten they pull off the connectors.

However, this one hadn't shrunk, so it was a simple matter of pushing it back on. We suspect that the reason it had come off was because the pipes had become blocked and somebody had tried to unblock them by forcing water down them with a pressure washer.

Our inspection also revealed the door cars were leaking and the rear air vents. These issues are common to all cars --  it isn't a design flaw, it's just age. Rubber doesn't last forever.

Fixing the issue isn't such a simple matter, as the door mechanisms are complex and contain sensors. We didn't know if we would be able to remove them or if we should open Pandora's box. Thankfully, we were able to call an old friend of ours out of retirement to come and supervise the removal and refitting of the mechanisms.

Replacements for the gaskets were not available, so we improvised with a suitable sealant. The customer was consulted every step of the way and was happy with this compromise.
