Mazda MX5 2008 | Water Leak Detection

0:00 Today we have an MX5 in, 2008, for our water leak procedure, so we're just going to show you what we've found so far. Just starting with the most common leaks on the MX5. They are underneath the scuttle area, they have a screw which is underneath a blanking plate, and when the water falls on top of that screw, it works its way through the bulkhead and then comes into the car.

0:21 So if we put some water on there and come inside, so we can see that the water's coming in from behind the dashboard board, and we've got a rusty bracket there which is obviously showing us signs that there's water been passing through. And so we can see the water on the carpet here, and we can see by evidence obviously we've had water in the bottom, because obviously all the rails are rusty. If we then come into the back, same again, so we've got rusty rails, and if I just push down on this here, so we can

0:55 see that that's wet on my fingers. Okay, then coming on to the boot area, another common leak is this middle brake light. And so what we're gonna do is we put, obviously we can see in the bottom here that we've got all signs of water in there, and so what we're focusing on is up the top. Let's get you to sit here a second, so bear with me a second. So up in these little holes there is where the brake light comes down. So what we're going to do is, if I put the camera just

1:34 here, so what we're going to do is we're going to pour some water on top of the brake light, just to simulate it's out in the rain. So if I just quickly put some water on here, okay, so we can see a bit too far over, but we can see that there's water dropping down here. And so if I then take you up, so what it's actually doing is it's dropping out from the holes inside and then working its way down. So there we go, so we've found obviously the two leaks and from what we can find so far
