Mazda MX5 2008 | Water Leak Found (part 1)

0:00 OK, today we have an MX5 in today, and it's a 2008 plate, and so we're just going to show you what we've found. First of all, and so concentrating underneath where the roof goes in, and we're just going to show you where your drainage systems are and see your drainage systems down the bottom now. And as we can see, if I just put the top down now. OK, so we can see that it's full of dirt and debris in there that is running away, and but it won't take

0:33 long, and then obviously that will block. And we can see this pipe here, this pipe is supposed to be connected to the bottom of this rubber, and this little gap here will obviously drain out into here and then comes out the bottom, supposed to go into this pipe, which would then send it round to your drainage system. But as we can see, the pipe is hanging off. And then coming over to the driver's side, so driver's side we can see that it's all got loads of dirt in

0:59 there again and is draining away, but obviously after time it will cause a blockage. And we can see that we have the pipe at the top here and the pipe at the bottom, so we can see that this one's disconnected. And what I'm just about to do is if we put a tiny bit of water just in the centre of that rubber. So we just put some water in there, just so it's filling up, just acting like it's raining, and you can see that it drops straight out of the bottom there. Now that's

1:27 because that pipe's not connected and it's not sending it down to the other side. If we just do the same on the passenger side as well, so we're just going to put a tiny bit of water in that rubber there, and there we go. So it pours out the inside. So once then pipes are back on, it would then reroute the water down into your drainage system. So that would be two leaks we've found, and obviously the drainage needs cleaning up. If we come onto the cassette where it actually sits, we can see that there's a lot

1:57 of dirt build up, and this little hole here is for your drainage system, which drops straight out the bottom and then goes down into your drainage system. So what we would recommend is obviously cleaning all of these up and Krytoxing them, and it's the same with the window rubbers as well. And they seem a little bit dry, so they could probably do with some rejuvenation product just to make them all nice and plump and seal well. And so that would be the first leak.
