0:00 So we have a Land Rover Discovery in today, which has got the water leak. So we're just going to show you what we've found. We've done our report. And obviously the only thing which has come up is a problem with the sunroof. Now I believe this is a common fault with these. The reason being is inside these arches, you have a little drainage point.

0:21 So that up there, that's a drainage hose, which is like a grommet, which normally causes perishing, and it then could cause obviously water coming through. Just to show you this one as well, because this one's a little bit clearer. So we can see it up in the arch there. So that goes obviously to the top of the sunroof and down to the arch.

0:44 And what we're going to do, we're just gonna jump up here a second, onto the sunroof. And what I've got is I've got my bottle of water here. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna put it in hole here, so it's filling up the cassette. Right, okay, so we fill that cassette up, so it's got loads of water in there. And then if we go down to the inside. Okay, so what I'm going to do is I'm going to leave you here a second, get the tablet all arranged. Right, okay, and then what I'm going to

1:24 do is I'm going to put some water down there. So there we go, so we can see a trowel coming down this point here, so there's a trowel coming down. And then what it's doing is, if we can look in the bottom of the carpet, so we've got puddles of water here. Also this here is a gully with a cable in, and what it's done, you can see that it's full of water. It's then followed the car all the way back into the back. And if we just pull this carpet up here a little bit, okay, so we can see

2:06 condensation under there, and it is wet as well. Obviously the water's sitting in this trough area. So there we go, so common thought on the Discoveries.

Common problem with leaking sunroof drainage on Range Rover.

Here we have a Land Rover Discovery which has come in for a water leak it has in the front foot well and rear footwell wet due to the common issue with a front sunroof pipes being perished and then allowing water to pass through in to the car and allows water to come down the inner of the bulkhead instead of Releasing through front arches.

As already mentioned, this seems to be a common cause of wet carpets on this model, but it's not unique to Range Rovers.

Solution: We will replace the pipes and fittings and with the leak found and fixed, we will dry the carpets.

Question: "I had a leak in my car, but the windscreen company fixed it. They also paid to have my car valeted. But the car is still damp, and the smell has come back. I want to dry my car myself, how would I do it?"

Answer: The best way is to remove the seats, remove the trim around the doors, lift the carpet up and hold it there with bungees. Suck out the water as it drains down (this can take a day or two) and keep a hot air blower on it.
