BMW X5 rear bumper resprayed at Kraftwork first, then paintwork correction, four-stage polish, and Matrix Black 8-year ceramic. Gary recommends garanging overnight to cure. Stayed when it rained.

The BMW X5 needed a rear bumper repair first -- that went off to Kraftwork for a respray. Once it was back, we tackled the remaining paintwork issues: paintwork correction on the most obvious scratches and marks, then a four-stage machine polish across the whole car before the coating.

Matrix Black 8-year ceramic coating is applied carefully in sections -- application is time-sensitive, and getting the flash-off time right before buffing the excess is important. Gary told the customer the car was ready but recommended garanging it overnight to cure properly. As it turned out, it rained, so the car stayed with us -- which was the better outcome.

One coating layer or two? We apply one or two coats depending on the product. Adding more layers adds little benefit; it mainly ensures nothing was missed on the first pass. Products that insist on multiple stages over several days are, in our opinion, making a meal of a job for reasons that benefit the detailer more than the car.
