0:00 First, you can see the arrow on the front windscreen, and you can see this bit of sealant here. And what we're going to do is we're just going to pressure test; we've already pressure test. So what we're going to do is we're going to spray some of our foam just in this section here, and then what we're going to do is on the inside we're going to put some high pressure there, and then what we're going to do is we should see any gaps.

0:24 So let me just get my tool set up. Right, okay, so we're looking on the inside of the window there. There we go. So as soon as I get down to that window there, we can see there's a big hole in the sill there. So that would be why there'd be water on the driver's side. So that would be the window screen leak. Coming around to the door membranes, now we're on the passenger door membrane. The drivers one doesn't seem to be leaking, but the other three are. So what we've done is we took the door cards off, so we can

1:05 see inside the doors. We're just going to simulate what we're going to do. So we've put a lever bar down the outside of the window, and what we're going to do is we're going to tip some water down the back of the window, to simulate that it's out in the rain. So now it should be emptying out through the bottom of the doors. And as you know yourself, the rear doors are blocked; the two front ones, one hole on each, is blocked. So now we can see that the water is running out the

1:30 bottom there, but not this hole here. And also, if we look very closely, we can see the water sitting in this cavity here, and as you can see, once it fills up there's an exit hole here. And so this could do with being resealed. That looks like there's one here, and one here, and possibly one here as well. So that would be the passenger door, so that only had a little leak. Coming on to the passenger rear door, we're just going to repeat the same process, so we're going to put the

2:02 water down on the back of the glass, and we've already took the door card off. Okay, so we come down here, and as you can see there, you can see it's running out of this hole here. And we've also got another one up here as well. Okay, and as we can see, it's not actually emptying out from the bungs from the bottom of door, and so they're blocked, which is very common on these ones here.

The windscreen and three of the doors were leaking on this Vauxhall Astra.

The windscreen was leaking because it wasn't properly sealed when a replacement was refitted at some point in the past. If you know the company who refitted your windscreen or it was done through insurance, it may be worth contacting them for redress.

The problem with the doors were twofold. Firstly, the drainage holes at the bottoms of the doors were blocked, causing the doors to fill up and overflow, pushing past the membrane. Secondly, the membranes ware beginning to come away, which means any water now running down the inside of the membrane will now pass straight through.

Solution: The windscreen will need to be refitted, which isn't such an expensive job, after all there is no need to buy a new screen, it just needs to be re-sealed. We will remove the door membranes and wash out the bottom of the doors, ensuring there is no debris in there that can block the drainage holes, then membranes will be re-fitted and carefully sealed.

Question: "Why is my car floor wet when it rains? The carpet is sopping on the passenger side."

Answer: There are numerous ways water can be leaking in to the front. A leaky sunroof, through the doors, badly fitted windscreen or even through the bulkhead.
